Who Doesn't Love A Good Beer And Food Pairing?
Wednesday night I had the opportunity to try some of Garage Projects new releases, including two nitro beers and three new beers exclusively made for Wellington on a Plate. All brews were matched with signature dishes from the team at Crate Kitchen. From crumbed eggplant to coffee braised beef short rib, it's safe to say they nailed it!
THE MENU
Garage Project Can Lah 4.6% | Welcome beer on arrival
A "super smashable" beer to begin.
Garage Project Electric Acid Dry Hop 4.2% | Paired with Crumbed Eggplant, Dukkha & Whipped Feta
A mild sour (unlike those ones you take a sip of and screw your face up at) matched with a tasty piece of crumbed eggplant. Now I'm not the biggest fan of eggplant and I would never opt for a dish with eggplant in it but Crate Kitchen may have changed my mind on this one.
Garage Project Mango Mango Milkshake IPA (Nitro) 5.4% | Paired with Fried Chicken Slider, Coconut, Cucumber & Tamarind
Not as sweet as you might think, this nitro ipa is super creamy with a juicy finish. The fried chicken slider was matched perfectly with is subtly spicy flavor.
Garage Project Garagista 5.4% | Paired with Pan Roasted Octopus, Crispy Polenta, Kimchi Mayo
A cult classic in the Garage Project line up, the flavor fuelled octopus was an absolute hit.
Garage Project Red Eye Gravy 5.6% | Paired with Coffee Braised Beef Short Rib, Smoked Potato, Pickled Shallots
One of the new brews, a front and centre coffee flavor with hints of maple accompanied by a melt in your mouth beef short rib #drool
Garage Project Cereal Milk Stout (Nitro) 4.7% | Paired with Dark Chocolate Mousse, Rhubarb, Honey Comb
Another nitro beer, the lower alcohol content takes nothing away from the smooth cornflake finish. The dark chocolate mousse was a bit too rich for my liking but the rhubarb complimented this well.
