Road To Beervana | The Beer Spot

The road to Beervana begins here! The Beer Spot hosted the first way-point in the lead up to the increasingly popular annual Wellington event where beer enthusiasts gather to taste amazing brews. Spilling out of the bar and into the driveway, The Beer Spot was at full capacity as beer makers and beer tasters mixed and mingled over local brews.

Standing in front of the 30+ taps before me, I struggled to choose just a few to taste. I selected a range of styles including Duncan's Brewing Yum Yum Yuzu, Urbanaut's Copacabana Brut IPA, Deep Creek's Lagerita, and Funk Estate's Lo-Fi Hazy IPA. With little space to set myself up I grabbed a free seat outside, not for me but for my beers!

Yum Yum Yuzu was truly an amazing lager. There is an initial crisp taste and then the yuzu hits you. The sweet yet sour citrus takes over and lingers on the palette.

Urbanaut's Copacabana Brut IPA is a flavor bomb. The intense aroma's of melon, mango, stone fruit and lemon transport you to a tropical paradise you won't want to leave!

I'm sorry, did you say lagerita? Deep Creek's take on the classic margarita does not disappoint. The zesty lemon lime flavor is at the forefront of this brew and it is refreshing!

Unfiltered, hazy and juicy as. The Lo-Fi Hazy IPA by Funk Estate will quench your thirst.

If this first pit stop in the road to beervana is anything to go by, I can't wait to see what's in store at Beervana.
